Academics
We are an International school, located in Billund, the southern part of of Jutland, Denmark. Our academics are rounded by Danish traditions, Learning through Play, the International Baccalaureate, International input, and the IDEA statement.
PLAY. LEARN.
LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
We are a school deeply committed to learning through play. So much that it forms the basis of our mission statement. Through our collaboration with The LEGO Foundation and Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a solid base for our Pedagogy of Play was laid. And the work goes on: Our teacher-researchers keep exploring what it means to put play at the heart of education – and academics – every day!
IB
International Baccalaureate
We adhere to the rigorous educational framework of the International Baccalaureate. We are an IB World School for both the Primary and Middle Years Programmes. A unifying element across all IB programmes is the IB learner profile, ten attributes describing those who are empowered to help create a better and more peaceful world. IB learners are: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Risk-takers, Communicators, Open-minded, Balanced, Principled, Reflective and Caring.
At ISB, we are taking it to eleven with the addition of an extra core value: Playful.
IDEA Statement
Inclusion – Diversity – Equity – Accessibility
We believe in Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility: IDEA. We celebrate diversity, ensure equal opportunities, foster inclusion and prioritise accessibility. Our goal is to instil a love for learning and a sense of belonging in every child, no matter where you come from, what you look like or how you identify; creating lifelong learners who contribute courageously, compassionately and curiously to a better world.
