Erica

Where are you these days?

I’m currently attending Rødkilde Gymnasium in Vejle where my main subjects are Biology and Chemistry, besides the obligatory ones.

What was it like to make the transition into a new environment?

I definitely needed some time to get used to the new school. But it was super exciting. The school is a lot bigger than ISB. The way of teaching is quite different since the students are more independent and responsible for their own learning, including attendance, homework and so on. Actually, parents are not involved or informed in any way, and there is no Managebac for parents either.

What did you carry with you from ISB that has been the most valuable so far?

Two of the things I’ve definitely carried with me from ISB are structure and discipline. I think that I have a better understanding of how I can structure my day in terms of spare time and homework but also in terms of how I can structure my actual work.

What do you miss the most?

Right now I miss almost everything. But to sum it up I miss the atmosphere and the familiar feeling. Although I have very good teachers now, I miss the extra effort my teachers at ISB put into assignments and their work.  I really doubt that I’ll ever find something quite like ISB.

How has your thinking about your own future changed since this time last year?

Last year I was really in doubt whether I should choose IB Kolding or Rødkilde Gymnasium. For me, I think it was wise to choose Rødkilde and I’m very happy with my choice. I also thought that I would have samfundsfag (social studies) on A-level but I quickly found out that that wasn’t my thing, and I ended up choosing kind of the opposite.

What advice do you have for the current M5s?

Value the time you have left at ISB, have fun, and you will leave ISB with a great basis for further education. Remember there is a balance between work and fun and you really can’t have one without the other. It all works out in the end 🙂
